What Happens at a Quarterly Pest Control Visit (and How to Prepare)

A step-by-step look at what a Lemon technician does at your initial service and each quarterly visit — plus simple ways to prepare and what to expect afterward.

By The Lemon Pest Control Team ·

“So… what do you actually do out there?” It’s a fair question. Here’s an honest walkthrough of a Lemon visit, from the first service to the ones that follow every three months.

Your initial service: the deep clean of pest control

Your first visit is the most thorough one we’ll ever do, because we’re starting from scratch.

  • Walk-through and inspection. We ask what you’ve been seeing and where, then inspect inside and out for entry points, moisture, nests and activity.
  • Interior treatment. We treat the problem areas inside — typically baseboards, plumbing penetrations, kitchens, bathrooms and the garage — focusing on the cracks and crevices where pests hide.
  • Exterior barrier. We apply a treatment around your foundation, doors, windows and other entry points to stop pests before they get inside.
  • De-webbing and nest removal. We sweep webs from eaves, windows, porches and entryways, and remove wasp and mud dauber nests.
  • Yard treatment. On plans that include it, we apply granular treatments to help with ground-dwelling pests.
  • Your visit report. Before we leave, we tell you what we treated, what we saw, and anything you can do to help.

Every quarter after that

Every three months we come back to refresh your protection before the next season’s pests show up. Quarterly visits focus on the outside of the home — the barrier, the eaves, the garage and outbuildings, and the yard — with interior treatment any time you need it. Because most of the work is exterior, you usually don’t need to be home.

If you’re on Lemon Premium, you’ll also get seasonal mosquito, tick and flea treatments during the summer months, mosquito stations that target breeding, and we check your rodent bait stations every visit.

How to prepare

  • Secure pets for the visit, or let us know where they’ll be.
  • Unlock gates and tell us about gate codes or anything we should know about access.
  • Clear the edges. Moving a few items away from baseboards in problem areas helps us treat thoroughly.
  • Make a quick list. Where have you seen pests? When? Photos are great.

After your service

It’s normal to see some insect activity for a week or two after treatment as pests come into contact with treated areas. Your technician will let you know how long to keep kids and pets off treated surfaces — usually until they’re dry.

And if covered pests are still bothering you between visits? Call or text. Re-services are free, and they don’t change your regular schedule.

The part most companies skip

Showing up on time. We schedule a one-hour arrival window that works for you — not an all-day window — and we show up when we say we will. It’s a small thing, until you’ve spent a Saturday waiting on someone.
