Crickets, Stink Bugs & Seasonal Invaders · Greenville, Spartanburg & Anderson

Crickets, stink bugs and the other uninvited guests.

Some pests do not live in your house — they just wander in when the weather changes. Camel crickets from the crawlspace, stink bugs on sunny siding in the fall, millipedes after a heavy rain. A strong exterior barrier refreshed every quarter is the best way to keep these seasonal invaders outside.

Included in Lemon Standard and Lemon Premium.

Quick answer

Why are there so many stink bugs on my house in the fall?

As temperatures drop, stink bugs and boxelder bugs look for a warm place to spend the winter. They gather on sunny, south- and west-facing walls and slip in through gaps around windows, siding and attic vents. Sealing gaps and treating exterior surfaces before they settle in is the most effective approach.

Signs of seasonal invaders

  • Jumping, spider-like crickets in the basement, garage or crawlspace.
  • Clusters of stink bugs or red-and-black boxelder bugs on sunny walls and window frames in the fall.
  • Millipedes curling up on the patio or garage floor after rain.
  • Silverfish in bathrooms, closets or stored boxes.

Who wanders in, and when

Camel (cave) crickets
Humpbacked, long-legged crickets that live in crawlspaces, basements and garages and jump when startled.
Brown marmorated stink bugs
Shield-shaped bugs that gather on homes in the fall to overwinter, and release a strong odor when crushed.
Boxelder bugs
Black-and-red bugs that cluster on warm walls near boxelder and maple trees.
Earwigs
Moisture-loving insects with rear pincers that hide in mulch and come in through door gaps.
Millipedes and centipedes
Millipedes migrate in large numbers after fall rains; house centipedes hunt other insects indoors.
Silverfish
Silvery, fast-moving insects that like humid rooms and feed on paper, glue and starches.

The Lemon way

How we handle crickets & invaders

  1. 01

    Find the entry points

We look at door sweeps, window frames, vents, weep holes and utility gaps where invaders slip inside.

  2. 02

    Barrier at the right time

Exterior treatments around the foundation, windows, doors and eaves are refreshed each season, ahead of fall invaders.

  3. 03

    Treat the damp zones

Crawlspaces, garages and mulch beds get attention because moisture draws crickets, earwigs and millipedes.

  4. 04

    Free re-services

If a fall swarm or rain-driven migration shows up between visits, we will come back at no extra charge.

  • Run a dehumidifier in basements and keep crawlspace vents and vapor barriers in good shape.
  • Keep mulch thin and pulled back from the foundation.

FAQ

Crickets, Stink Bugs & Seasonal Invaders questions

Are camel crickets dangerous?

No — they do not bite or sting, but they can be startling and can damage stored fabrics and cardboard. Reducing moisture and treating crawlspaces and garages helps a lot.

Why do millipedes show up all at once?

Millipedes migrate in large numbers after heavy rain or when soil dries out in the fall. They die quickly indoors, but a fresh exterior barrier keeps most of them outside.

Is this covered by my plan?

Yes. Crickets, stink bugs, boxelder bugs, earwigs, silverfish, centipedes and millipedes are covered by both Lemon Standard and Premium.
